Fair use rationale for Image:Vegeta powering up.jpg
[edit]Image:Vegeta powering up.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Vegeta powering up.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Vegeta powering up.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:22, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Jurassicpark-velociraptor.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:22, 5 July 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 03:22, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Goku vs vegeta.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Goku vs vegeta.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Deletion of Population at Various Times
[edit]I was the one who contributed on "Population at various times" for all municipalities of Romblon province, Philippines. I did contribute also on the history of each municipalities but a moderator named mamaberry11 deleted all my contributions some 2 weeks ago but retained the tabulation of "Population at Various Times". In my own opinion, the tabulation is now useless without the history itself where the tabulation was referred. Since I am the same person who contributed it, why can't I delete my contribution now when I deemed it useless? Let all information for each Romblon municipalities have the old description with it and its obsolete year 2000 census figure (latest is 2007) and list of barangays. That is enough if you don't want my contributions on history, which I diligently researched from various sources with all its citations posted. 78.101.230.175 (talk) 06:21, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
As commentd by one Romblomanon History Writer: "Mas maayo pa ngani nga sa Sanrokan mo i-post ang history kaysa sa wikipedia kay hasta nyan, di pa rin respected na source ng research ang wikipedia". Translation" "It would be wise to post your contributions to Sanrokan Magazine (local histories) instead of Wikipedia because even until now, it is still not respected as source of research / information". I agree with her views because those scholarly contributions were indiscriminately deleted while the obsolete postings were retained. Check the pages on Romblon province municipalities now. 78.100.233.91 (talk) 09:03, 12 September 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.101.230.175 (talk) 08:57, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Bone (... to pick)
[edit]1. Each individual image is fine as a fair-use image; however, the collection of images, due to sheer volume cannot be reasonable rationalized as minimal-use of non-free images on the page. I am a fan of the series and Smith's work, but there is no reason why this page should lead as one of the articles with the most non-free images. The least compelling character images are those of other characters which while they have liscening, the rationale is neither immutable nor compelling.
2. If you're looking for support to revamp page. I'll be happy to look over it. Best luck editting. -Sharp962 (talk) 18:31, 20 September 2009 (UTC).
Lord Mountbatten
[edit]Vanakam. Which words in the Mountbatten article do you perceive to be "Americanised"? Masalai (talk) 03:47, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- Not too many - have to review the entire article again if i have to list each word here. Krishvanth (talk) 09:34, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
- Well, why don't you, and we can discuss whether some editing is appropriate. Masalai (talk) 16:39, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
- I'll look into it... I'll just change them directly, then. Its about a British guy and the English used ought to be British. The standard adopted on other wiki pages. That was all I wished to convey basically. Krishvanth (talk) 16:47, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
- Sure, go right ahead. But I note that you're a Tamil Indian in California whereas I'm a Canadian in Australia and possibly neither of us has the last word on what constitutes "British" as opposed to "American" usage, eh. Masalai (talk) 17:04, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
- Actually i'm a Tamil Indian in India :D :D and actually i am more comfortable with the english language than my native 'mother tongue' :P will take care... Krishvanth (talk) 19:47, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
- Oh are you. Obviously I had glanced too cursorily at your user page and misread "This user is an aspiring CA" not as referring to chartered accountants but as "This user is in California"! I doubt Mountbatten ever got to the Madras Presidency, as Tamil Nadu then was, but John Kenneth Galbraith (who despised Mountbatten and with some justification blamed him for Partition and the violence in Punjab and Bengal in 1947) often said that it was by far the best-governed state in India. I wonder if that still holds true, or indeed if it did back in 1961-62 (he had very nice things to say about Kerala too). Masalai (talk) 06:39, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
- lol! :D :D and yeah, tamil nadu's an okay place to be in. but perhaps i say tat cos i'm used to it!! :D Krishvanth (talk) 17:48, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Re:awesome
[edit]Hi, I assume you are referring to File:Goku vs vegeta.png, at least that was the only upload by you I could find that had been deleted by me. You are probably correct that it would not be "allowed" back in an article, however I'm pretty sure I would not be violating any sacred trust by providing you with a copy of this particular deleted file for your own personal use, so I tossed it on my Dropbox here if you want a copy: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/2742055/Goku_vs_vegeta.png (save a copy, I may clean out my public folder every once in a blue moon, so can't guarantee it will still be there several months down the line).
As far as I can see you where notified about the possible deletion of the image by J Milburn[1] back in 2008, I guess what happened is that when BJBot came along and flagged the image as unused again in 2009 it saw the reference to the image on your talk page and skipped posting a second waring (anti-spam measure it I recall correctly). Bit of an unfortunate interaction there I guess. I usually do try to check, but I'll freely admit I often err on the side of lazy when it comes to this particular class of images since it's so extremely rare for there to be any controversy (people have run bots to auto-delete them in the past without any major incidents that I can remember), and any actual mistakes are easy enough to reverse if need be.
Please go easy on the "murderous warg pack" type commends when referring to users that remove content though, they most likely don't have a personal vendetta against you even if they remove content you feel should stay, so getting hostile with them won't help matters. Sometimes you can work out a compromise, sometimes you are simply in the minority and have to move on (pretty much all pop-culture related content I've ever contributed have gotten deleted or mercilessly trimmed as "fan trivia" so I can relate somewhat). --Sherool (talk) 20:51, 22 March 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Hi.I am not a regular editor.I was reading the article "astra' and found many factual inaccuracies, particularly the one where it says sudarshan chakra can be stopped by lord shiva.I tried to edit it,but some editor is reverting it,and i found in history that other editors have found this inaccurate too.I have found supporting links in google books, but don't know how to substantiate it.can you please look into it? 117.201.99.241 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 11:24, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
Hi, you have requested help from several editors but do not have a Wikipedia id. I strongly suggest you create one as it is not clear what exactly you're trying to achieve. Additionally, I'd like to say that most religions, faiths and traditions have several 'side-stories' - so don't bother too much about what you find in Wikipedia and believe what you feel is true. Just don't try to force it on to others using violent methods, like some mad people in the world do (a quality that seems to transcend all faiths). - Krishvanth (talk) 13:08, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
